We’re updating how Paidia Bot is monetized to support long-term sustainability as usage continues to grow across Discord communities.

What stays the same: Tournament organizers can still create tournaments and collect registrations for free.
What changes:  When a tournament is ready to go live, starting the bracket requires redeeming a Tournament Token, available through the Discord Store.

This model ensures Paidia Bot remains reliable, scalable, and accessible, while aligning costs directly with active tournament usage. Our focus remains the same: enabling communities to run competitive, inclusive tournaments where gamers already are—on Discord.

Is Paidia Bot free to use?

It is free to download into your guild and use tocreate tournaments, configure settings, and collect player registrations for free.

A Tournament Token is only required when you’re ready to start the tournament and run the bracket.

What is a Tournament Token?

A Tournament Token allows you to start a tournament and use Paidia Bot’s full bracket and match management features for that event.

Each token is redeemed for one tournament.

When do I need to use a Tournament Token?

You only need a token when you click Start Tournament.

  • You do not need a token to:
  • Create or recreate a tournament
  • Test formats or settings
  • Announce a tournament
  • Collect registrations

This ensures planning and setup are never blocked by cost.

Why did Paidia move to a token model?

Paidia Bot runs across thousands of Discord servers and processes high volumes of real-time activity. Tournament Tokens allow us to directly support the infrastructure and usage each tournament creates, while keeping the bot accessible to as many communities as possible.

This model aligns cost with active usage and supports the long-term sustainability of Paidia Bot.

Are there still Pro or premium feature tiers?

No. Paidia Bot no longer has Pro tiers.

All tournament features are now available to every user. The only requirement is redeeming a Tournament Token when starting a tournament.

Where do I purchase Tournament Tokens?

Tournament Tokens are available through the Discord Store and are linked directly to your Discord account.

What happens if I don’t start my tournament?

If you never start the tournament, no token is used.

You can delete or recreate tournaments freely without consuming a token.

Do I need a token for every tournament?

Yes. Each tournament that is started requires its own token.

Will this affect existing tournaments?

Tournaments that have already been started are not impacted. Tokens apply only when starting new tournaments going forward.

Why not charge monthly instead?

Many communities host tournaments irregularly. A per-tournament token ensures hosts only pay when they actively run an event, rather than maintaining an ongoing subscription.
